01 — OVERVIEW

Delivering an upgraded user and visual experience

Conveyor AI is a low-code orchestration platform that allows users to connect APIs from leading vendors like Google, Microsoft, and IBM to create AI applications in minutes. Conveyor AI is one of the start-ups under Hyper Blue, IBM's AI incubator.

ROLE

As the only designer on the team, I was leading the design and research of Conveyor AI as the product moved from MVP incubation to internal availability.

I served as the design lead for various part-time design contributors, managing and planning the delivery of deliverables.

OUTCOME

We delivered Conveyor AI as an internal tool. I refreshed the UI with updated visual design and a new design system. I leveraged user feedback to produce new user experiences for the agent library, canvas interactions, and deployment process.

06 — RETROSPECTIVE

What I learned

Progress is better than perfection

Owning all things design was a lot for one person, and it can feel impossible to deliver everything at 100% quality and completion. However, I've learned that the smallest bit of progress can still make a huge impact.

Advocate for design

It's so important to ensure that design processes and decisions are driven by user research, data, and feedback, rather than just aesthetics or assumptions. Fighting for good design practices is hard, but changes everything.
